Poll: Where is the Best Place for a Kid's Birthday Party?

Of all the selections in Millburn and Short Hills, which place offers the best package – fun for the kids, good service and a price you can afford?

Let's face it, there are a lot of kids out there in Patchland, which means a lot of birthdays that need to be celebrated.

There are so many places to celebrate with our kids - the choices are seemingly limited only by the child's imagination or desire. But that can mean going out of town -- so what if we want to stay local?

Chances are you've hosted birthday parties at businesses in Millburn and Short Hills, and probably with mixed results. So we want to know -- what was the most fun? Where did your kid have a good time? What would you recommend to other parents? We want to know.

This week's "Reader's Choice" poll asks the question: Where is the best place in town to have a great kid's birthday party? We came up with some and want to know your opinion:

  • , Short Hills
  • , Short Hills
  • , Springfield/Millburn

You have a week to vote and the results will be tallied at 9 a.m. Friday. The winning business gets its own story, and all of the winners around Essex County will be highighted on our front page on Saturday.

Feel free to vote, comment and make suggestions. If we've forgotten a place, be sure and let us know. We can't wait to hear where you think is the best place to blow out the candles.

How about your home?

We can live without the mess and cleanup at home. As for best place, it depends on the age. It's always nice if the kids can do something where they're engaged with each other and having fun with each other, versus an individual activity such as art or perhaps baking.

For young girls (ages 6-8), you can also just reserve one of the nail salons in town, and then go next door to La Strada for pizza. I did this once for about 12 girls and it was a lot of fun and a great value too!

I've also done parties at my home the past 2 years and it ended up costing more than if we had booked one of these places! Plus, it took about a day to prepare (or more if you include all the shopping for food, decorations, paper goods, games/activities, prizes) and a day to clean up!

Not in town but the Messy Artist is wonderful. The owner Donna is efficient and obliging.

Splurge does it all for all ages! Leave the mess behind and see your daughter or son have the best and yummiest party ever! They even can make their own pizza to eat! There is also a place for parents to hang out and watch their kids through a glass window while enjoying coffee and some treats!
