Poll: Which is the Best Italian Restaurant in Town?

Is it even possible to choose? The best pasta? The best sauce?

For some people it's the smell of the fresh-baked Italian bread, the tang of the freshly-grated parmesan cheese, for others it's the perfect al-dente pasta with just enough savory tomato sauce on top.

Northern New Jersey is nearly synonymous with Italian food and the "abondanza" we have makes us spoiled.

We love our bolognese with tender meat, our pesto with fresh basil and just the right amount of garlic, and our parmigiana sandwiches to be served with the mozzarella cheese still bubbling on top.

So it's a tall order to pick the very best Italian food in town. But that's what we're asking you - our Patch readers - to do.

Starting this week, we want to know your "Patch Favorites." We want you to vote for your favorite local business, this week for your favorite Italian restaurant. So here's what you need to do:

  • Cast your ballot.
  • Tell your friends, family, acquaintances, co-workers, doctors, letter carriers and anyone else you know to do the same.
  • Use our comment tool to tell us what makes your favorite the best. Is the secret in the sauce, is it the crumbled sausage instead of the sliced, is it the friendly service?

The voting takes place starting 6 a.m. Monday until 9 a.m. Friday and the story will stay on the home page all week to give you time to vote. The winner will be announced at noon Friday. Ties will be broken by whichever business has the most positive comments below, and reviews on Patch Places.

The winner will be announced just in time for that week-ending dinner order — and bragging rights!

This is democracy in its truest form. Your vote counts, so thanks in advance for doing your duty and voting your culinary conscience! See you Friday!

Editors Note: Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Regional Editor Liz Moore, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

Thanks for the catch. Lots of Italian for one small town, eh? We are adding it to the list.

Good point - future restauranteurs take notice. How about a fish place, or maybe something "new american" - Thanks!

Possibly best in the state. Always a fantastic meal, and prices are quite reasonable for fine dining. A reservation is advisable. The new La Cucina di Clemenza is also worth a look. Excellent food, and a newly-built, very unusual two-story interior. Gian Marco is the best casual, family dining. Excellent food every time, with nicely packaged home delivery available too. Enzzo's is surprisingly crowded when we visit; the food is average at best. Pizzeta makes a fabulous margarita pizza.

There is no contest as far as I'm concerned. Highest quality food and service and most importantly CONSISTENTLY GOOD!!! And if that wasn't enough the atmosphere is so beautiful and full of energy!

Cafe Luna for it's consistent, fresh, delicious, authentic meals, and friendly service. I feel like I'm back in Northern Italy when I eat here. Not your typical bloated italian restaurant.
