Should Officials OK Snooki’s Wedding Reality Show?

Officials in one Bergen County town are torn over whether to greenlight MTV's plans to turn a reality star's wedding into a television event.

Snooki is getting married, but the powers that be in one New Jersey town are going to have the final say on whether to let the affair be filmed for broadcast.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, an East Hanover resident, has been talking up her black-and-gold, “Gatsby”-themed fall wedding at the ultra-chic Venetian in Garfield for several months now.

Town officials are split on whether to allow film crews to record her wedding to Jionnni LaValle—the father of her son Lorenzo—for some future MTV show, according to northjersey.com.

Garfield Mayor Joseph Delaney is keen on the exposure for his city, but Councilman Frank Calandriello says there’s more investigating to do before giving crews the green light.

"I think we have a moral obligation to protect the best interest of Garfield," Calandriello told northjersey.com.

Delaney speculated the show would likely use the landmark wedding venue as a backdrop for a story about the Marlboro High School grad growing up—not a “Jersey Shore”-style debauched reality romp.

Garfield’s town attorney was reviewing the network’s contract with the city this week, northjersey.com reported.
