Recall on Peanut Butter, Product List Here

Peanut Butter products recall comes to Millburn-Short Hills area: Target, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods

A voluntary recall has been issued for additional peanut and nut products manufactured by Sunland, Inc., due to a salmonella risk. A number of the products are sold locally at Trader Joe's and Target.

A Food and Drug Administration voluntary recall that started with peanut butter sold at Trader Joe's has expanded to include almond butter, cashew butter, tahnini and roasted blanched peanut products manufactured by the New Mexico company

According to the Food and Drug Administration’s website, the recall is limited to products manufactured between May 1, 2012 and Sept. 24, 2012.

A full list of UPC codes and product names of the recalled Sunland, Inc. nut butters is here. There are 101 affected products.

“Consumers who have purchased Sunland's Almond Butter, Peanut Butter, Cashew Butter, Tahini and Roasted Blanched peanut products with the above UPC and Best-If-Used-By-Dates are urged to discard the product immediately,” stated a release on the FDA website.

The original recall on Sept. 2 was for Trader Joe’s Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter.

The recalls at area stores include:

"Most people infected with salmonella develop diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after infection," stated the FDA. "The illness usually lasts four to seven days, and most people recover without treatment."
