Restaurant Week Coming to Millburn-Short Hills

Plenty of discounts will be happening during the week later this month.

More than a dozen of the community's best-known restaurants and eateries will take part in the inaugural Millburn-Short Hills Restaurant Week later this month.

Restaurant week is scheduled for Monday, May 24 through Sunday, May 30. Restaurant Week will feature a combination of prix-fixe menus, special discounts and culinary events.

Short Hills restaurants offering special Restaurant Week prices are Benihana, the Dining Room at the Hilton Short Hills and Short Hills Pizza. Participating Downtown eating establishments are Café Luna, Café Monet, Jade Lake Gourmet, Martini Bistro & Bar, Peter's and QJ Green Garden Restaurant. Also, downtown restaurants Rockin' Joe of Millburn, Sakura Japanese Restaurant, Sapporo, Semolina and Trattoria Gian Marco will offer prix fixe or discount menus.

Sona Indian Dining in Maplewood, a member of the Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce, will also take part in the inaugural Restaurant Week effort.

The event is created by the Millburn-Short Hills Business Coalition, a joint effort of the Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Millburn and the Township of Millburn to promote business in the Township.

"I'm delighted to see how many Township restaurants have embraced a concept that has had great success both in major cities and other suburban communities," John Buchholz, president of Downtown Millburn, said in a press release. "The week leading up to Memorial Day always signals the unofficial start of summer, and our first-ever Millburn-Short Hills Restaurant Week is a great way to mark the transition to outdoor dining, summer shopping and enjoying all the Township has to offer."

Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce President Ralph Tarnofsky siad in a press release the Restaurant Week effort represents "the best of what our business community can do together. As Downtown Millburn and the Chamber of Commerce continue to develop the kinds of projects that encourage business growth, we can anticipate more Coalition ventures like this one."
