Visions For Vacancies: What Should Move To 313A Millburn Avenue?

At the corner of Millburn Avenue and Lackawanna Place a business spot is empty.

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning—Patch's version of a charette, a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

In an occasional column, we'll present a new vacant space and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules, and all the other zoning jargon that puts people most to sleep. 

We launch this occasional feature by focusing on the now vacant space at 313A on Millburn Avenue?

The space is an 1100-square-foot store front in a great location on the corner of Lackawanna Place. It used to be a shoe store, Foot Solutions Inc but moved to West Orange.

So with tons of shopping, restaurants and other eclectic shops in downtown Millburn, now it's up to you to suggest what business should move in. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

I second the bookstore vote, but with the caveat that it be an independent store.

A good Indian restaurant. I have yet to find a decent Indian restaurant in the area, notwithstanding all the people of that ethnicity who have moved to the area in recent years. It would be most welcome.

I vote for a factory that makes killer robots with spinning razor-sharp blades on their arms. Either that or a good Indian restaurant.

Rent here is over $3,000 per month, hopefully a business moves here that can cover rent, utilities, inventory, and salary costs.

Whatever opens, the owner should recognize the growing number of families with young children in this town. (kids menu's). You can target high end residents only, but you will always have 2/3 empty seats !

We need a real bakery with artisan breads and european style pastries with a cafe layout of seating.

Actually the lease is 2,510/mo and has just recieved an application being reviewed now.
