Charter Presentation Ceremony - Millburn Kiwanis Club

The Millburn High School Key Club started on March 18 on a successful path to
create a new Kiwanis Club to carry out a mission, “Changing the world, one
child and one community at a time.”

A few years ago, the local
Kiwanis Club, which had served Millburn, Short Hills and Springfield for more
than 60 years, returned its charter and disbanded it.

Locally, Kiwanis Clubs sponsor youth leadership and
community service organizations such as the high school's Key Club.

Worldwide,
they do much more. Kiwanis and UNICEF worked together for a campaign that
successfully ended Iodine Deficiency Disease in the world. Now they are working
on the Eliminate Project, to end Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus.

Despite their global goals, Kiwanis Clubs primarily
put their time and effort into local projects. They were among the first to
provide support during Hurricane Sandy, by checking on people’s welfare

(particularly the elderly), distributing portable water, and making sure people
had enough food and blankets.

On Thursday, September 26, the charter presentation ceremony will take place at Gian Marco Trattoria at 7:00 PM.

It is an occasion to recognize our new Kiwanis club and welcome its members,
and also to thank our sponsor, Livingston Kiwanis Club, and Millburn Key Club
for the effort to build a new local club. The ceremony will be attended by the Kiwanis
International President, Thomas DeJulio.
