Local Residents Strike Up the Band in upcoming "The Music Man" Production!
Short Hills residents Sydney Brenton, Alexa Kerner, Zach Maitlin, and David Dantowitz are set for opening night in the Livingston Community Player's 10th Anniversary production of "The Music Man", by Meredith Wilson. The award-winning musical takes place in 1912, when fast-talking con man Harold Hill shows up selling dreams of a boys' band to residents in River City, Iowa. Only the town librarian sees through his deception, while the rest of the town falls prey to his scheme. Will Harold skip town with the money, or will his feelings for the librarian change his conniving ways?
Hartshorn 4th Grader Sydney Brenton plays the role of Amaryllis, while Millburn Middle School student Alexa Kerner portrays Gracie Shinn and Deerfield's Zach Maitlin is Winthrop Paroo. Additionally, town resident David Dantowitz, owner of MillburnMac.com, harmonizes in the Barbershop Quartet.
The musical features several hit songs such as "Seventy-Six Trombones", "Gary, Indiana", and "Lida Rose" and is being lead by the talented team of Ilene Greenbaum as Music Director, and Camille DiLorenzo as Director.
