Community Corner
Make Friends and Make a Difference with the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills
Women interested in making a
difference in their communities, meeting new friends and having fun are invited
to attend an informational coffee with the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills
(JLOSH).
The organization, which has served
the community for 100 years, brings together volunteers to tackle critical
needs of women and children in our area.
Recent JLOSH projects include a day of service when over 100 volunteers
worked with 13 community groups to complete service projects, making over
Isaish House, a young women’s shelter in East
Orange, hosting an Information Fair for teenagers who
are aging out of the foster care system, conducting book drives and assembling
and donating Thanksgiving meal baskets.
Sara D’Andrea, President of JLOSH,
explains: “The Junior League is a wonderful way to get involved in our
community. We have several projects
planned where members can really make a significant community impact.

“Besides hands-on volunteer
opportunities, we also offer leadership and voluntarism training to our
members. Involvement in JLOSH is also a wonderful way to develop friendships,
and promises to be fun and fulfilling.
The Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills is
hosting two morning coffees and an evening coffee for prospective new members
throughout October. Children are welcome
and the events are free.
