The commercial real estate climate and the upcoming Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium will both be on the agenda at NAIOP New Jersey's Annual Meeting and Real Estate Outlook. The year’s first major networking event is slated for Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at the Short Hills Hilton.
For the real estate outlook, Choose NJ CEO Tracye McDaniel will lead the discussion with Mitchell Hersh, CEO of Mack-Cali Realty Corporation, Dr. Jim Hughes, Dean of the Bloustein School at Rutgers University, Richard Tucker, President and CEO of Tucker Development Corporation, and Dennis Bone, Director of the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship at Montclair State University.
On the business front, is it time for a "Gatorade shower" to celebrate economic recovery, or do the economy – and commercial real estate – still have some yards to cover? While New Jersey's real estate markets played four solid quarters in 2013, is the game in the "W" column yet? What offensive and defensive strategies will spearhead continued economic and public policy victories in 2014?
Indeed, with the Super Bowl just days away, the big game will share the event’s spotlight. Even though the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks—and neither of MetLife Stadium's regular football tenants—will vie for the coveted title, special guest and former Giant star Stephen “The Touchdown Maker” Baker, a hero of Super Bowl XXV, will be on hand to lead the football festivities.
"This meeting traditionally sets the tone for the year ahead and identifies development and tenant trends," said Michael G. McGuinness, CEO of NAIOP New Jersey. "The recent passage of the Economic Opportunity Act of 2013 with its game-changing incentives is already making a difference with new projects, employers and jobs coming to more regions of New Jersey.
“Four days later, the first Super Bowl in the tri-state area, and the first to be contested in an open-air stadium in a northern climate, will be played in the Meadowlands,” said McGuinness. “We are pleased to be able to celebrate this historic event.”
