Fifty-Year Resident James P. Tansey Passes Away

He was a resident of Millburn from 1962 to 2011 and a fireman for 33 years.

James P. Tansey, a 27-year veteran of the Millburn Fire Department died this past weekend, on Aug. 4, in the N.J. Fireman's Home, a nursing home in Boonton. He was 85.

A viewing will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., in Maplewood. At 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 there will be a service at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, 432 Wyoming Ave. followed by interment at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.

Tansey was born in East Orange in 1926 and was a resident of Millburn from 1961 to 2011. After serving in World War II and the Korean War, Tansey worked as a fireman for the Millburn Fire Department from 1961 to 1988.

Tansey is survived by a son, Scott; three daughters, Karyn Hanna, Susan Wolfe and Kellie Fieldsend. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
