Future of Education: Common Core Town Hall Meeting

Many families are wondering how Common Core will change the future of education. † How will implementation of the Common Core State Standards directly impact children? How can we help our children be successful through the implementation process of a large program that changes everything? †What is all the controversy all about and what can we do to ensure our voices are heard? An information session for parents and community members will take place on May 13th at 7:30 pm at the Bauer Center in Taylor Park, 100 Main Street, Millburn.  The session is open to those in Millburn and the surrounding communities (street parking available).

On the Road to Reading May 20, 2014 at 10:02 PM
Everyone is concerned about the many changes happening in our schools. From the new Common Core Standards to Student Growth Outcomes to the new teacher tenure laws, New Jersey classrooms are changing. When it comes to the new Standards, parents are not clear about how they will actually affect classroom instruction. Well, hold onto your hat because the Common Core Standards do and will affect instruction beginning in Kindergarten right on through high school. In addition, there is much misinformation circulating out there. The most prevalent idea is that the Common Core Standards are a program. They are not, they are standards used to guide instruction. The standards establish what students need to learn but do not dictate how teachers should teach. No matter what standards, texts, or programs your district is using, sometimes students experience difficulty and, most often, it is in the area of reading. On the Road to Reading are experts in helping Kindergarten through high school students read and comprehend texts while strengthen writing skills. Feel free to give us a call at 732-216-7512 or message us on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ontheroadtoreading
