Letter: Stop & Shop Will Be Good Neighbor

Stop & Shop says the Springfield store with access to Millburn Ave will benefit the community.

A letter to the community:

The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC is very proud of our proposed Millburn Avenue project. The new store has been designed to blend in with the neighborhood, and the footprint will be significantly smaller than the old Saks building. We’ve worked with state, county and local authorities to come up with a traffic plan and roadway improvements that will keep traffic running smoothly on Millburn Avenue. Finally, we’ve designed a site plan that adds new, larger landscape buffers to separate our operations from our closest neighbors. You can see detailed plans of the new Stop & Shop, along with artist’s renderings of what the new facility will look like at our website, StopAndShopSpringfield.com.

Stop & Shop will be not only a convenience but an asset to the community.  More activity in the Short Hills business district will help our neighbor businesses, and help fill vacant storefronts along Millburn Avenue. We realize that the redevelopment of this site raises questions. Our team is ready to answer any questions you might have. Please visit our new website, review the site plans and read some of the background information on this ongoing effort. If you have any questions that remain unanswered, please reach out to us at StopAndShopSpringfield@gmail.com, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We realize that we have a lot of work left to do- ultimately; we want to be a good neighbor to the surrounding residents of Springfield and Short Hills. There has been a lot of misinformation spread about our project, mainly by some of our competitors. We encourage you to follow the developments closely and decide for yourself.
