Millburn police charged the teen with shoplifting from three stores at the Mall at Short Hills Friday.

Millburn police have charged a 16-year-old Jersey City girl Friday with shoplifting just under $1,400 in clothing from the Mall at Short Hills, authorities released Monday.

According to Lt. Keith Laverty, two store employees from Macy's and Bloomingdales told police they saw the teen pick-out numerous items and leave the stores without paying for them.

Millburn police responded and took the teen into custody. Police found the teen with $1,373.89 worth of clothing from Bloomingdales, Macy's and the Gap, Laverty said.

The teen was released into the custody of a parent and faces shoplifting charges.
