Alleged Nanny Cam Home Invader Pleads Not Guilty in Court

Shawn Custis, 43, is accused of attacking a Millburn resident in front of her young child last year.

The man allegedly caught on a nanny cam viciously beating a Millburn mother in June 2013 pleaded not guilty at his arraignment before a Newark court Tuesday, according to CBS.

Shawn Custis, 43, is accused of being the man seen in nanny cam video that captured the beating and robbery of a young mother that sent shockwaves through Millburn last year.

A Newark grand jury indicted Custis in January on one count of attempted murder, one count of first degree robbery, one count of second degree burglary, one count of third degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of third degree criminal restraint, one count of third degree theft, and one count of second degree aggravated assault.

Custis, who has 12 prior convictions, is being held on $750,000 bail, according to CBS.

The Newark man was arrested without incident in Manhattan about an hour after authorities identified him as the alleged intruder last July.
