A Millburn woman and her young son had to be cut from her car with the Jaws of Life after a car accident Friday morning.

The accident occurred when the the 39-year-old Millburn woman's Toyota minivan was hit head on by a Hyundai Sonata on Ridgewood Road at about 9:10 a.m. according to police.

Police said a car containing two 24-year-old South Orange men crossed the center line of the road and hit the minivan head on. The Millburn woman and her 4-year-old son had to be cut from the minivan with the "jaws of life" by the fire department, Police Captain Bernie Neuhaus said.

The woman and her son were both treated by Millburn Volunteer First Aid Squad and taken to Saint Barnabas Medical Center. The two South Orange men were transported to Morristown Memorial Hospital.

The colision sent the minivan up on the curb of the intersection of Ridegewood Road and Sunset Drive. Both vehicles were towed away.

Neuhaus said all injuries were not life threatening. The collision closed the road for an hour while the area was cleared.

No tickets or summonses were issued. The accident is still under investigation, Neuhaus said.
