Codey Contributes to Reward for Millburn Home Invader

Reward raised to $22,500 as the hunt continues for the man who 'viciously' attacked a young mother in front of her child last week.

Sen. Richard Codey responded Thursday to Millburn’s violent home invasion donating $2,500 to reward to help catch the man who attacked a young mother in front of her child last week.

The man kicked down the locked back door of the Cypress Street home just after 10 a.m. Friday and 'viciously' assaulted the woman for more than three minutes while robbing the home.

The sheriff's office announced Wednesday its Crimestoppers program would pay up to $22,500 for details that lead to the arrest of the man.

The reward started at $5,000 Monday and was upped to $20,000 Wednesday by donations from Essex County residents and businesses.

Sheriff Fontoura thanked Sen. Codey for his leadership, assistance and concern.

Anyone with information about the crime are asked to contact Lt. Keith Laverty of the Millburn Police Department at 973-564-7001 or 973-565-7016.
