Firefighters Respond to Car Fire, Downtown Smoke

There were no reported injuries in a car fire on an exit ramp on Route 24 early Thursday morning, according to a fire department report.

Firefighters responded to the fire at just after 3 a.m. on the Board Street exit ramp on the westbound side of the highway.

The fire was "fully involved" when firefighters arrived, according to the report, and they extinguished the flames. Firefighters were on scene for nearly an hour.

Firefighters also responded to a fire alarm at 59 Main St., but there was no fire at the scene, according to the department report.

Ling Ling Chinese Cuisine is located at the address, and the report states there was a flare up at the stove that caused a smoke condition.

Firefighters could be seen venting the restaurant, and the trucks parked on Main Street caused a minor traffic problem.
