Millburn PD Collected, Disposed 100 Pounds of Prescription Drugs

As part of the American Medicine Chest Challenge the police collect prescription drugs with drop-box in lobby of police headquarters.

In just three months, the Millburn Police Department has disposed 100 pounds of prescription drugs collected in its drop-box, according to Capt. Bernie  Neuhaus. 

Residents can deposit any unwanted or unneeded prescription drugs or over the counter medication in the drop-box is located in the lobby of police headquarters at 435 Essex Street 24 hours a day. 

The drop-off box is part of the American Medicine Chest Challenge, a national public health campaign designed at raising awareness of the issue of prescription drug abuse and safe disposal of unused, unwanted or expired medicine at any time.

It was painted by Millburn High School student Lily Blum back in June as part of her AP art class.

The first prescription drop-off box was set up six years ago in the Drugfree New Jersey Office in Millburn the executive director of a Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey Angelo Valente said.
