Police Blotter: Arrest Made in Home Intrusion

Arrest information was provided by the Millburn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Millburn Police arrested an alleged burglar on Sunday and charged him with stealing jewelry and electronics from a Hampshire Road residence this summer. The theft took place while the residents were home.

Marcus Sorbino, 32, of Newark was charged with theft after he was linked to the burglary through a DNA test, Millburn police said.

The burglaryclose to 2 a.m. while the residents were home. They locked their bedroom door and called 911 when they heard the intruder. They also sounded their internal security alarm.

According to the arrest report, Sorbino entered the residence through a rear window and took jewelry and electronics, including Tiffany necklaces, a Nintendo DS and Apple iPad.

The “burglar was arrested because of confirmed DNA evidence left at the scene,” Millburn police said on Monday. “The victims were notified and thrilled of the outcome.”

Quite a committed criminal, he was arrested in 2003, 2005, 2008 (twice), 2010, and now 2012. Keep your doors unlocked, lights off, and Macbook pros on the front seat, folks. This area is different.

Kudos to the MPD for catching this career criminal. Amazing that the arrest happened nine months after the burglary occurred. Why the delay?

They should lock this guy up for good. Why does he keep getting out? He has a long record of crime. Why would anyone believe this would change?
