String of Unlocked Cars Burglarized Overnight, Cops Say

Millburn police encourage resident to lock their car doors.

Seven unlocked cars were burglarized in Millburn and Short-Shorts sometime over night Friday making off with cash and electronics, police said Monday.

According to Capt. Bernie Neuhaus, two of the cars were parked on Mountainview Road and four on Rosedale Avenue. The final vehicle was parked on Wyoming Avenue in the South Mountain section of town.

The cars were burglarized sometime between Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 8 a.m., said Neuhaus.

Five of the owners told police their cars were left unlocked, Neuhaus said. Police believe other two cars were also left unlocked, showing no signs of forced entry.

A cell phone, cash and a laptop was reported stolen from one of the cars, Neuhaus said.

Millburn police are still investigating the burglaries.
