Millburn Prepares for Environmental Survey

Council also agrees to consider purchasing a historic White Oak Ridge Road home for municipal purposes.

The Millburn Township Committee met Tuesday night and discussed its upcoming inventory of environmental resource, The Alternative Press reported.

Planning Board member Michael Weinstein, a senior scientist at the Center for Natural Resource Development and Protection at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, is conducting the inventory. He appeared at the meeting to explain details of the comprehensive survey, which is done every six years but has not been updated in eight years. It will consist of an appraisal of the township's parks, open lands, wetlands, riparian area and historic and cultural resources, the article said.

At its meeting, the council also adopted an amended bond ordinance reserving more than $5 million to acquire properties for municipal use. Originally, the ordinance designated five properties being considered for purpose; the amended version includes a new property, a historic home at 363/361 White Oak Ridge Road.
