Republicans Tap Ian Mount for Millburn Committee Election

Candidate selected by Republican Municipal County Committee to run for Committeeman Thomas McDermott's seat after he announced he will not seek re-election. Ted Bourke will also run for re-election.

The Republican Municipal County Committee has selected Ian Mount as a candidate to run for Committeeman Thomas McDermott's seat in November, according to the Item of Millburn-Short Hills Tuesday. 

The local Republicans also picked current Committeeman Ted Bourke to run for re-election on the township committee. Bourke is currently serving as deputy mayor and has served on the committee since 2011. 

McDermott announced in March he would not seek re-election this coming November.

"I've served my 18 years on the committee," he said. "I think it's time to move on and let someone else take over."

The township committee is comprised of five members who serve three-year terms.
