For the first time ever, Millburn Township Schools will begin a process to make sure all students who attend school in the township, live in the township.
To that end, school officials will require that ALL incoming 9th grade students re-register, in June, providing proof of residency.
“In an effort to be sure that the Millburn School District is providing a free public education to those students who are domiciled in the township of Millburn, it is important that, from time to time, the district re-verify student residence,” Superintendent Dr. James Crisfield told 8th Grade parents in a letter sent out Friday. “To be certain that all of our school district resources are directed only toward the education of eligible students, the Millburn Public Schools are, for the first time, instituting a mandatory re-registration of one grade of students…”
Re-registration is mandatory for all Millburn students entering Millburn High School as freshmen in September 2012, and must be done between June 4 and June 29.
All families of incoming 9th graders must provide the District with current proof that the student’s permanent home is the Millburn township address given on the re-registration form. Any incoming 9th grader who does not re-register within that time frame will be ineligible to attend 9th grade at Millburn High School for the 2012‐2013 school year.
Siblings of anyone who does not re-register in that time frame will also be ineligble to attend school in the fall, according to Nancy Dries the district's communications director.
Additional sets of forms are available for pick‐up at the High School, Middle School or the Board of Education office at 434 Millburn Avenue. (Patch also has the PDFs of the forms that can be downloaded here.)
