Ed Foundation Reminds Residents Millburns Schools Rock

The annual fund-raiser is scheduled for March and features the B Street Band.

The Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills wants to remind locals that Millburn schools rock.

The foundation's annual Millburn Schools Rock fund-raiser is scheduled for Friday, March 19 at 7-11 p.m. at the Maplewood Country Club. The event features the B Street Band, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band that recently played at New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's inaugural party.  In addition to the "Boss," there will be food, silent auctions, raffles and instant prizes. Last year's event drew nearly 350 people.

Proceeds from Millburn Schools Rock will go towards completing phase II of the Communication Arts Program, providing needed upgrades to classroom technology, equipment and programs.  All seven Millburn public schools will be gifted.

Before the event, people can buy Millburn Schools Rock flannel pajama pants, car magnets and Silly Bandz, which are colorful rubber bands in the shape of rock and roll instruments.

March 19 has been designated as Millburn Schools Rock Day in the public schools, and students will be encouraged to wear their Millburn Schools Rock pajama pants to school in support of the event.

Invitations are now on their way to all Millburn public school families.  The event is also open to the public, and admission is $75 per person.
