Millburn Teacher Joins Chatham Board of Ed

Michelle Clark is a teacher in Millburn and chaired Education Counts for eight years.

Michelle Clark, a teacher in Millburn and a Chatham Township resident, was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Chatham School Board last week.

Clark says it's an exciting time for the School District of the Chathams and she's happy to be a part of it. She also stated she has attended many Board of Education meetings and knows the challenges the district faces and it is an exciting time in Chatham because new initiatives and curriculum changes are planned.

Clark was appointed to a vacancy left by the resignation of five-year Chatham Township representative Albert Burgunder.

Burgunder resigned in November citing personal and professional reasons.

Clark stated she is taking her service on the board step by step, but, if all goes well, she would look to continue serving and have her name on the ballot in April.

Clark has three children in Chatham schools—at Chatham High School, Chatham Middle School and Lafayette School—and previously served for eight years as chairwoman of Education Counts, an organization that advocates for Chatham public schools and has worked to pass local school budgets.
