Hartshorn Student Advances to Regional Spelling Bee Competition
Fifth-grader Louise Adillon advances to the next level of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Louise Adillon, a fifth-grade student at Hartshorn Elementary School, will represent the school district at the New Jersey Regional Competition of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Adillon advances to the state regional competition, which is to be held in March, after successfully spelling the word fragrance at the semi-final spelling competition on Jan. 15 at Hartshorn.
If Adillon wins the New Jersey Regionals, she will continue on to Washington, D.C. for the televised National Bee.
Hartshorn principal Kenneth Frattini stated he is proud of Adillon's accomplishment.
"I am so proud of Louise on her victory and all the students for their exceptional effort and enthusiasm," Frattini said. "It’s exciting to have our children participate in an event that included every Hartshorn student."
Hartshorn students have been competing with each other for a place in the New Jersey regionals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, an annual spelling bee held in the United States and run on a not-for-profit basis by The E.W. Scripps Company.This is the first year Hartshorn School is participating in the national spelling competition and students from Kindergarten through 5th grade have been excited to be a part of it.
