Subscription School Busing Application Deadline is Friday

Previous participation will not guarantee a seat for next year, district says.

The Millburn School District is accepting applications until June 13 for subscription busing for the 2014-15 school year.

Applications can be found on the Transportation Department webpage at www.millburn.org or download it here. All current school district families who are not mandated for busing have received a mailing with information and instructions on applying for subscription busing.

Students who do not qualify for mandated transportation—those in grades K-8 who live more than 2 miles from school or grades 9-12 who live more than 2.5 miles from school—can apply for subscription busing.

Previous participation does not guarantee a seat so all must re-subscribe for the 2014-15 school year.

Parents can determine if their street is eligible for busing on the transportation website at www.millburn.org.

The fee for the 2014-15 school year will remain consistent with last year’s amount of $580 per student and is non-refundable. There is a family cap of $1,160. All applications must be submitted online through the Community Pass website.

Applications must be submitted online by Friday, June 13 by either paying the total of $580 or paying an initial deposit of $348 per child up to $696 per family. The remainder of the payment will be due on Feb. 13, 2015.

Payments may be made by credit card online, or by check after the application has been submitted online. Checks should be made payable to “Millburn Township Board of Education” and mailed within three business days of completing the online registration (a confirmation email will be sent when check is received).

Credit card payments (with a $1 convenience fee) will be accepted until June 13. Application requests received after June 13 (with the exception of new residents) will be put on a waiting list and will not be scheduled for busing before Sept. 15, if seats are still available on the appropriate bus.

A waiver of the $580 per student charge is available for families who meet the qualifying income level threshold of $81,586.  Families interested in applying for the waiver must submit the waiver form with the subscription busing application to the Business Office, along with the acceptable income eligibility proofs listed here.

Bus Route information and bus passes will be mailed to families in August.
