Wyoming Principal Wears Wig per Students Request

Principal Peter Mercurio wore a blonde wig on Tuesday for the entire day after students voted for him to wear it.


Wyoming Elementary School principal Peter Mercurio had the honor of wearing a long blonde wig for the entire day on Tuesday. Mercurio donned the new look after students voted for him to wear it.

 

Students cast their votes for which school administrator should wear a wig at multiple fundraising efforts hosted by the schools PTO. The students could choose from the school's librarian Honi Wasserman, the school's nurse Sylvia Eppinger or the school's principal Mercurio.

Emily Ferguson and Jamie Beady, co-chairs of the Wyoming PTO Fundraising Committee, created the wig concept.

The fundraising for the school began at a pancake breakfast hosted by the Wyoming PTO and during the breakfast, kids began to vote on who gets to wear a wig for a day.

Voting for who should wear the wig continued through the school’s annual Thanksgiving bake sale.
