Eli Manning Wants 'Bogus Gear' Lawsuit Tossed

Short Hills memorabilia dealer claims fake Giants game gear ruined his business.

Attorneys for Giants quarterback Eli Manning have asked a Newark judge to dismiss the lawsuit against him and his team by a Short Hills sports memorabilia dealer.

A motion filed on Thursday by the quarterbacks lawyers said that Eric Inselberg's lawsuit is without merit, according to a report.

Inselberg filed suit in January against Manning and Giants' owner John Mara claiming the team tussled new equipment to make it appear as if the goods had been worn during actual play.

The dealer’s attorney filed a motion this week to push the case from federal court back to state court, according to a report from the Associated Press.

Inselberg was one of several dealers accused of selling bogus equipment, the AP reported. Federal officials dropped the case against the Short Hills dealer, but Inselberg said in court papers that the Giants should be held responsible for ruining his business.
