Millburn 8th Grade Girls Advance to Championship Game

Millburn Girls look for Third Straight Championship

Down by 4 points with 20 seconds left in overtime looked to be the end of the Millburn 8th Grade Girls Travel team's two year reign as champions of the Suburban Essex Travel League. However a long 3-point shot by Liz Elder and a driving layup by Paige Krikorian as time expired, gave the girls a 32-31 win over the No.1 seeded Cedar Grove girls.

Millburn advances to play the winner of the Nutley vs Bloomfield semi-final and potentially its third straight championship game against Nutley (Millburn has won the last two years).

Millburn was led by Kelsea Brown's 11 points. Elder had 8, Krikorian 7, Jenna Dembner and Jess Alexander had 4 and 2. Lauren O'Neill, Jaquelline Marino and Lindsey Dinowitz provided strong ball handling and defense, while Ava Altenburger, Elisa Dalton and Sara Mester contributed strong play on the defensive boards.
