Millburn Middle School Student Skates With the Best

Skating in the juvenile category, Noah Jaffe qualifies to compete for a U.S. national spot.

A Millburn Middle School student, Noah Jaffe, won the North Atlantic Regional Figure Skating Championship for U.S. Figure Skating this week.

Skating in the juvenile boys category, the seventh-grader will move on to the Eastern Sectional competition, competing against 11 other boys for a spot at the U.S. Nationals.

"Skating makes me feel as if I could fly and do anything I set my mind to," Jaffe said about why he likes skating. He started taking private lessons and skating in competitions when he was 8-years-old.

By winning at Regionals, Noah has qualified to compete at the Eastern Sectional competition, which will be held in Cape Code in November

At 12-years-old, this is his second year competing as a figure skater at the Juvenile level, which is the first of the five levels of competitive figure skating for which there is a national-level competition.  The North Atlantic Region is one of nine regions in the country.

There are three Sections in the country.  Each of the three Sectionals will have 12 skaters competing for a spot at the U.S. Figure Skating National Championships.
