Turnover Time Means Bargains and Fabulous Finds

Photos of fabulous finds from the sale of the season at Morrow Church.

For many locals, a trip to the Turnover Sale at Maplewood's Morrow Memorial Church is a summer ritual.

The sale was a Depression baby; the United Methodist Women first started selling gently-used goods some 76 years ago. Times have changed, but the community still seeks a place to give away used goods and find bargains galore.

Organizers Joyce Stibitz and Mary Auth begin sale planning during the cold months, then recruit dozens of volunteers to help set up, sort and sell donated items. (More are always welcome, they note.) The range of donations is broad; this year's Turnover features enough wicker furniture for several porches, stuffed animals of every possible species, and travel books to take readers around the world and back.
