Millburn Teens Raise Money for Save the Children

The group of rising Millburn High School freshmen had a lemonade stand in Short Hills.

When Lauren Rothenberg saw Carrie Underwood highlighting the work Save the Children does in Africa, she decided she wanted to do something to help.

The rising Millburn High School freshman was with her friends at the corner of Short Hills Avenue and Pine Terrace East on Thursday selling lemonade and baked goods to raise money for the cause. Her goal was to raise $100, and she was at about that much before 2 p.m. when someone drove up and donated $100 to the cause.

Many of her friends also were at the lemonade stand helping, some calling out to passing cars to donate money.

In addition to the lemonade and food, the girl band Bloom, which performed at Millburn Middle School earlier this week, was expected for a meet-and-greet. Rothenberg said she spoke to the band's manager after their performance to arrange the appearance.
