Towne Realty to Collect Winter Coats for Jersey Cares

Children are encouraged to put notes in the pockets of their coats for the recipients.

Towne Realty Group is collecting warm, gently used coats to be donated to Jersey Cares as part of the charity's 16th annual coat drive, in hopes to help Jersey Cares reach its goal of collecting and distributing 50,000 winter coats to at-risk men, women, children and infants in New Jersey.

Now through Dec. 15, Towne Realty Group’s Short Hills office will accept warm, clean and gently-used coats men’s, women’s, children’s and infant’s coats.

Town Realty also invites parents to get their children involved by participating in the Note in a Coat Program, which personalizes the experience for those receiving and giving coats. Through Note in a Coat, children donating coats write short notes to children receiving coats through drive.

The notes are individually placed in the pockets of each coat. The children typically write short geetings, telling the recipient something about themselves, expressing their favorite memory in the coat, and hoping the enjoys the coat. The goal of this program is to engage children in service by making the experience interactive and meaningful.

Towne Realty, located at 511 Millburn Avenue on the corner of Campbell Road, will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 25, but is open all other days for donations. Donations can be made delivered to the office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
