Senior Ian Riddell threw his second shutout of the season to lift the Millburn High School varsity baseball team to a 6-0 victory over Newark Barringer in Monday's opening round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 playoffs Monday in Millburn. Riddell improved to 6-0 this season and 16-1 for his career with a tidy, four-hitter that included six strikeouts and no walks. Max Jacobs came through with a two-run single to break a scoreless tie in the 4th inning for Millburn. Riddell followed with a sacrifice fly and Will Shiebler added an RBI single as Millburn (22-4) extended its lead to 4-0 after four innings. The 7-5 victory over Fair Lawn extended Millburn's overall record to 20-4 this season.
The Millburn varsity baseball team celebrated "Senior Day,'' honoring its players from the Class of 2013, with a 7-5 victory over Fair Lawn at Millburn High School Tuesday. Junior Conor Murray clinched the victory when he hit a two-run single and eventually came around to score from second base on a sacrifice bunt to extend the team's lead to 7-2. All five of Millburn's healthy seniors not only played but also contributed to the victory. Senior Ian Riddell was the starting pitcher and tossed the first five innings to improve his record to 5-0 on the season. As the Millburn High School freshman baseball team heads into its last week at 11-4 with three games remaining against Montclair Kimberly, Delbarton and Belleville. Here's an overview on how the team got here over the last two months. Last week, they beat Nutley 2-1, at home, on Monday, May 6, and Chatham 7-5 on Tuesday, May 7 at Chatham High School. Dean Scwheinler pitched the complete game against Nutley, giving up only one run, allowing 4 hits, striking out 3 and walking only 2. The team pitched in by scoring one in the bottom of the 3rd on a single to center by Daniel Antselevich, who stole two bases, setting Ryan Adelman up to hit the RBI to center field. The Miller's win over Nutley Monday gives the school its first Super Essex Conference American Division Championship.
The Millburn High School's varsity baseball team's 9-3 win over Nutley Monday lifted the Millers to its first Super Essex Conference American Division Championship. Winning pitcher Evy Ruibal helped his own cause with a grand slam home run that finished off Millburn's victory in Nutley.The victory lifted Millburn to 18-4. Millburn last won a conference championship in baseball in 2008 when the school competed in the Northern Hills Conference. The Super Essex Conference was created in 2010 and Seton Hall Prep had won the league title in each of the past three seasons. Millburn concluded its conference schedule with a 13-1 record. Seton Hall Prep finished second at 12-2. Ruibal improved to 4-1 on the mound this spring. He pitched the first …

The Millburn varsity baseball won over West Essex in a 7-5 victory Wednesday in North Caldwell. Juniors Nick Meo and Evy Ruibal provided the offensive punch while seniors Jordan Wenik and James Mynott provided stellar relief pitching to propel Millburn to win on May 1. The victory improves Millburn's overall record to 16-3. The Millers remain tied with Seton Hall Prep for first place in the American Division of the Super Essex Conference with identical 10-1 league records. Each team has two remaining league games. Millburn High School varsity baseball team jumps into first place with its victory over Seton Hall Prep.
The Millburn varsity baseball team rode the dependable right arm of senior Ian Riddell and a timely power display by junior David Talpalar to a 4-3 victory over Seton Hall Prep on Monday at Verducci Field in West Orange. The victory on April 29, which was Millburn's 12th in its last 13 games, moves the Millers into a first-place tie with Seton Hall Prep in the American Division of the Super Essex Conference. Millburn is now 15-3 overall and 10-1 in SEC play while Seton Hall Prep (17-1, 10-1 SEC) suffered its first loss of the season. Riddell, a right-handed pitcher, improved to 4-0 on the season and 14-1 for his career by scattering nine hits while striking out five and walking one batter. The Millburn varisty baseball team beat West Orange in a five-inning mercy rule on Wednesday. Juniors Conor Murray and Matt Gula each had two hits and scored two runs, while Nick Meo and Bradley Bean each drove in two runs as the Millburn baseball team dropped West Orange, 15-5, in Millburn. The victory improved Millburn’s record this season to 7-2, including a 6-1 mark within the American Division of the Super Essex Conference. Currently, Millburn is alone in second place in the SEC, trailing first-place Seton Hall Prep by only one game. Millburn is back in action on Friday, April 19 when it hosts SEC foe Bloomfield. The Millburn 11-12 League baseball team ended its season with tough 5-4 loss to Watchung this past Wednesday. Millburn finished second in the American East Division after its loss this , July 25 at Gero Park. Millburn earned a bye in the first round, as second seed, of the New Providence Green League playoffs with a sterling 13-1 regular season record. The starter, Max Steffen, hurled 4 strong innings, allowing 3 runs, 2 of which were earned, and struck out 6. The Millburn 11-12 League Baseball team came out undefeated last week competing in the New Providence Green League. Millburn is now 10-1 in the New Providence Green League. This week will end league play and playoffs will follow. On Saturday, July 7, at Gero Park, Millburn roared to a convincing 17-9 victory. Strong pitching efforts from the starter, Max Steffan, and Matt Knowles in relief turned in strong pitching efforts. Knowles struck out 6 and allowed 3 hits in three innings. Keying the offense were Elijah Taitel who had 3 hits in 3 at-bats and scored 3 times and Kush Shah who drove in 4 runs.
