Who Should Fill the Open Seat on Millburn School Board?

Five candidates spoke at the last Board of Education meeting. [POLL]

Five candidates vying for the seat left vacant after Millburn Board of Education member Jean Pasternak resigned at the Feb. 11 meeting made presentations to the school board and residents at Monday night's meeting. Who do you think should fill the open seat? Click below on each of the candidates' names for a short recap of each residents' speeches: Two other candidates, Jay Mattlin and Kalani Thielen, dropped out of the race.  The board will appoint a resident to fill the open seat at the April 11 meeting, school board president Jeffery Waters explained.

Five Millburn School Board Candidates Explain Qualifications

Contenders discuss interest in vacant seat on Millburn Board of Education at Monday board meeting.

Five of the seven candidates vying for the seat left vacant after Millburn Board of Education member Jean Pasternak resigned at the Feb. 11 meeting made presentations to the school board and residents at Monday night's meeting. The board gave the candidates the opportunity to discuss their qualifications and interests at the meeting and also to answer two questions — why they are interested in serving on the board and what are their qualifications. Each of the candidates displayed different career experiences, but all said they wanted to give back to the Millburn School District and try to make it better. Who Should Fill the Open Seat on Millburn School Board?

Seven candidates will vie for the open spot on the Board of Education. Who do you want to take the seat? [POLL]

The district's business administrator announced Tuesday seven residents will vie for the seat vacanted when Millburn Board of Education member Jean Pasternak resigned on Feb. 11. The board will appoint a resident to fill the open seat at the April 11 meeting, school board president Jeffery Waters explained at the Feb. 25 meeting. At the Monday, March 11 meeting, the candidates will have the opportunity to explain why they are interested in serving on the board and their qualifications, Waters added. The seat has been empty since Pasternak resigned to focus on family matters. Who do you want to fill the seat?

Board of Education Meeting Still On

School board set to approve preliminary budget.

The Millburn Board of Education meeting is still on as scheduled tonight at 7:45 in the Education Center, despite predictions of snow, according to school officials.  The board will approve a preliminary budget, which is due to the county Thursday.  Check out PDF attached for the meeting's agenda.
