The Board of Education unanimously voted to accept it Monday night, but a location is yet to be determined.
There will be a bench honoring former Schools Supt. Richard Brodow, but it remains to be seen where the bench will be placed. The Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution Monday night accepting the bench from the PTO Conference. But the resolution leaves the location of the bench to be determined with Schools Supt. James Crisfield working with the PTO Conference to find a suitable place. The intention was to place the bench in front of the Education Center. The board tabled the matter with some members citing the ongoing naming policy revisions as a reason to wait to accept the bench. Scott…

He retires from the school district on Wednesday
There was a day not so long ago when Millburn Schools Supt. Richard Brodow was downtown to get a sandwich for lunch. He parked his car near the movie theater on Millburn Avenue, and three high school students stopped him to say hello when he was returning to his vehicle. It's moments like that, and the ones he has nearly every day in Millburn-Short Hills schools, that he says he'll miss. "You treasure those moments where the kids know who you are," he said. "I care about kids and I care about how they're doing. I'm only sorry this job prevents me from spending more time in our schools knowing more kids." Wednesday is Brodow's final day after eight years as the district's superintendent. He's retiring after a half-century in education. And …

His final day before retiring is Wednesday.
Millburn Schools Supt. Richard Brodow's final day before retiring is Wednesday, but Monday night marked his final Board of Education meeting. Brodow gave a long list of thank yous to staff, parents and others who have supported him during his eight years as the district's chief school administrator duirng his final superintendent's report Monday night. When he came to the district in 2002, New Jersey Magazine ranked Millburn High School at 13. Two years ago the high school was ranked tops in the state. Brodow credited the ranking, one which he predicts the district will retain in the fall, through the hard work of teachers, students and with the support of parents and the community. He said he hopes he had some small part in helping the …

The search committee will provide a report on the process to replace Richard Brodow tonight.
The Board of Education is expected to vote on hiring a search firm Tuesday night to assist in finding a new schools superintendent. The board agenda includes an item to hire Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates "to assist with the district's search for a Chief School Administator." Additionally, the search committee is scheduled to give an update during the board reports section of the meeting. The meeting is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. at the Education Center. The firm claims to be the largest search firm serving public school districts on its Web site, having completed 700 searches for school administrators. Board members remind people he has one more year
Board of Education members reminded the public Monday night that Schools Supt. Richard Brodow still has one year remaining before he retires. The board officially accepted Brodow's retirement, planned for June 2010, when it approved the personnel report Monday night. Brodow announced Friday he would retire after the upcoming school year, and after 45 years in education. Board President Noreen Brunini said while the board wishes Brodow the best, there is a full year left with much to be done before his retirement. "This is not the night to bid him good-bye," she said. Board Vice President Scott Kamber said he looks forward to the next year of working with Brodow, the final year in achieving the goals he set when he joined the district seven…
