Tickets Still Available for ‘Coming Together’ Gala

M-SH Chamber of Commerce Gala this Saturday at The Hilton-Short Hills.

The Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce will host its "Coming Together" gala this Saturday at 6 p.m., at The Hilton-Short Hills.  The evening will feature dinner, dancing, auctions and awards to not-for-profit organizations with offices or headquarters in Millburn and Short Hills. Twelve organizations were chosen by the Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors to receive the Serving our Community and Beyond Award. Bridge Ceremony Kicks Off "Downtown Millburn Week" and "Millburn Restaurant Week"

Ribbon cutting ceremony officially opens the revamped bridge and tells residents,"We're back in business."

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 8:45 this morning on the Millburn Avenue Bridge to highlight this weekend’s spring events, "Downtown Millburn Week" and "Millburn Restaurant Week." Chamber Holds Its Annual Winter Gala

The event raised money for three local organizations.

The Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce held its annual winter gala on Saturday night at the Hilton Short Hills. The event featured a cocktail hour and dinner, a silent auction of items from local businesses and live music with dancing. The event raised money for the Millburn Police Department, the Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills and the United Way of Millburn-Short Hills.

Chamber to Honor Businesses, Members at Annual Meeting

The deadline to register is today.

The Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce will honor local businesses and chamber members during its upcoming annual meeting and awards ceremony. The event will be held on June 2 at 6-9 p.m. at Johnny's on the Green Restaurant in Short Hills. The chamber will present a Lifetime Achievement Award to long-time chamber Board member John Jennings. Outgoing board members David Stern and Diana Hoffman will receive Chamber Service awards. Design and Renovation Awards will be presented to several township businesses that have completed renovations. They include the Garage, Oksenhorn Jewelers, Peapack Gladstone Bank, Pet Smart and Trader Joe's. Restaurant Week Starts Sunday

Millburn-Short Hills restaurants will be offering deals and special menus.

Restaurants around Millburn-Short Hills are putting the final touches on the menus and getting ready for the township's first restaurant week. Restaurant week, sponsored by the Millburn-Short Hills Business Coalition, is scheduled for Monday through Sunday May 30. The Dining Room at the Hilton Short Hills will make a three-course dinner available during Restaurant Week at $35 per person. Choices will include vegetable or seafood appetizer, seafood, chicken or beef main course and a dessert favorite. Benihana will offer prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus at $15 and $30 respectively.  Restaurant Week lunch specials will include selected appetizers, specified two-combination entrees and dessert.  The $30 prix-fixe dinners feature one of two …

Downtown Bridge Replacement Subject of Economic Summit

The summit also looked at the commuter parking garage proposals and the potential of it coming to downtown.

Township officials and business leaders are working together to minimize the impact of the upcoming county project to replace the downtown Millburn Avenue bridge. The subject was one of the issues brought up during Tuesday's economic summit for business owners, sponsored by Downtown Millburn, the Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce and the Millburn-Short Hills Business Coalition. It also touched on parking, a topic that has been a subject discussed a great deal at previous economic summits. Daniel Baer, a Township Committee member, said the plan is to start the project to replace the bridge in August. Two lanes of traffic would always be open, he said, but parking would be displaced. Chamber Swings for the Big Band

The Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce holds a Big Band Extravaganza.

The wine was flowing, the music was playing and the people were dancing Friday night. The Millburn-Short Hills hosted its Big Band Extravaganza at the Hilton Short Hills, featuring John Nobile's Summer Swing Orchestra. The music featured a special guest singing, Shayne Miller, Paper Mill Playhouse director of press and public relations. Miller also is chamber vice president. In addition to music, dancing and a buffet dinner, there was a wine tasting courtesy of Gary's Wine and Marketplace in Bedminster. And if people didn't know how to dance, there was instruction for them on the dance floor. There was also a tricky tray silent auction and a live auction.

Chamber Update: Big Band Sounds Coming

Big band sounds and swing dancing is coming to the Hilton Short Hills. The Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Big Band Extravaganza on March 12 starting at 6:30 p.m. for $79. The event is a fund-raiser for the chamber. John Nobile's Summer Swing Orchestra will be the highlight of the event, which also will feature swing dance demonstrations and lessons. There will be a buffet dinner and a live auction. There's also plans for a wine tasting by Gary's Wine and Marketplace in Bedminster. Tickets are $79. Shayne Miller, chamber vice president, said it'll be a great event and the cost is a value for the dinner and entertainment. Chamber Update: Help for Millburn Avenue Businesses

The chamber has reached out to help its member businesses on the Short Hills end of Millburn Avenue.

While one business on the Short Hills end of Milburn Avenue was destroyed because of a fire, the other ones were also affected. Parking has been removed from the street because of lane closures to demolish 517 Millburn Ave. and there have been disruptions with utilities including phone lines following the Jan. 10 fire. The Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce is doing what it can to help the area businesses recover. Shayne Miller, chamber vice president, said this week the chamber is working with its limited resources to get out the word to support the businesses. "It's the word of mouth that will help those businesses," he said. "We've been encouraging our board members to shop and dine at those businesses." But despite the issues, …

People Want More Restaurants, Retail Chains in Millburn-Short Hills

The Millburn-Short Hills Business Coalition released its survey results to Patch Tuesday.

More restaurants and chain stores are just a few of the things people said they want to see in town in a survey of consumers. The Millburn-Short Hills Business Coalition released the results of a survey of local consumers to Millburn-Short Hills Patch on Wednesday. A total of 338 people responded to the survey, which surpassed the goal for responses, said Shayne Miller, coalition chairman. "We are very happy with the results," he said. Of the people who responded, 56 percent said they want to see more restaurants in Millburn-Short Hills, 44 percent want to see retail chain stores, 36 percent said they wanted to see clothing stores and 32 percent said they wanted to see "retail gift" stores.
