Three locals band are set to bring down the house for the Fifth Annual Millburn Schools Rock Concert in West Orange.
Millburn and Short Hills! Are you ready to rock? The Education Foundation of Millurn-Short Hills have announced the three bands for the Fifth Annual Millburn Schools Rock Concert at Crestmont Country Club in West Orange on March 8. For the nonprofit’s 20th anniversary, the foundation booked three popular bands to entertain that evening, comprised mostly of parents of students in the Millburn Schools — Poet Section, Cat’s Ok Band and The Undertakers. Back for its fifth year in a row, the Kids Rock for Vision Concert is set to bring down the house in support of the Short Hills nonprofit. The concert will take place on Saturday, March 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Summit. Kids Rock has raised over $30,000 since it started in 2009 for the nonprofit New Eyes for the Needy located in Short Hills. All proceeds from concert ticket sales and donations go towards the purchase of new prescription eyeglasses for poor children living in the United States. The concert bands and wind ensemble from MHS play their winter repertoire to large crowds.
After a full season of entertaining crowds at every Millers home football game, the Millburn High School bands began working on their concert band repertoire in November in preparation for their first of two annual concerts. The MHS Concert Band, Wind Ensemble and two Symphonic Bands, which involve about 200 students, performed their songs at the concert on Wednesday, which was a huge success. The bands are under the direction of Mindy Scheierman, MHS Director of Bands and conductor of the 2011 All-North Jersey Honors Symphonic Band, and Matthew Spatz, MHS Associate Director of Bands and Chair of the New Jersey School Music Association’s Band Division. Tickets are selling swiftly for the Richie Furay Band concert that is scheduled for August. More than half of the allotted 100 VIP premium tickets have already been sold for the concert, which is sponsored by the Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Concert, that is scheduled for Aug. 24 at the Hilton Short Hills. The Robert Murdock Band brings British Invasion Tribute to Taylor Park.
It was a perfect night for dancing in Taylor Park Sunday as many people brought their chairs and blankets for the latest installment of the Summer Concert Series. The Robert Murdock Band brought the British Invasion Tribute for the latest installment of the series. They played a number of songs from a variety of bands from the era, including the Rolling Stones, the Kinks and, of course, the Beatles. The next edition of the Summer Concert series is scheduled for July 26 at 7 p.m. in Taylor Park. Van Martin & His Big Band will perform a tribute to Frank Sinatra.

The British will invade Taylor Park on Sunday. Or at least a tribute to the British Invasion era music will be there. The Robert Murdock Band will bring its tribute to the Beatles-era of music in the next edition of the Summer Concert Series. The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sunday. The rain date for the show is July 19. The British Invasion Tribute features vintage clothing and musical arrangements with music from more than just the Beatles.
