Leading up to the 5th Annual Millburn Schools Rock Concert, the Ed Foundation is running a 50/50 raffle with 50 percent of the proceeds going to the grand prize winner and 50 percent to benefit the work of the foundation. The winner will be announced at Millburn Schools Rock, but the winner need not be present to win. Raffle tickets are available in books of five for $20 each and will be available through the elementary schools or by emailing a request to edfoundation5050@gmail.com. The Education Foundation of Millburn and Short Hills will kick off the 2012-13 school year with a mini “Millburn Schools Rock” fundraiser at 8 p.m. on Thurday, in Martini Bar & Bistro. The event in downtown Millburn is open to the public and tickets may be purchased at the door for $25. The donation covers entrance to the show plus one beverage (soft drink, beer or wine). The evening’s highlight is a live performance by The Northstar Session, TNS, a Los Angeles-based band. TNS was featured last year on NBCʼs hit series Parenthood. The Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills the donation of over $100,000 of technology, staff development and other programs to all seven Millburn township schools. Also in its May meeting, for first time, the Board of Trustees of the Ed Foundation voted to set aside $50,000 to begin an endowment to ensure that the Foundation can continue to enhance the Millburn Township public school curriculum in future years. This year the organization is donating 10 iPads with Apple care to the five elementary schools in the district. The middle school is receiving one Apple syncing and charging cart, thirty iPads with AppleCare protection and a MacBook Pro laptop. The Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills is partnering with the Board of Education to bring the World Language Program to grades 3 through 5 in the next months by providing 1,200 headsets for use with the new computer-based Spanish Program. The Ed Foundation is thrilled that this gift will enable the district to begin this valuable program this school year, said Marianne Connor, Ed Foundation Vice President. In addition, the foundation is providing other gifts to all seven schools in the district. Because of current technological infrastructure limitations, the district is not yet able to support and utilize Apple iPads which were the originally planned gift. The Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills showed just how much Millburn schools rock Friday night. The annual gala was held at the Maplewood Country Club and featured music from the B Street Band, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band. The Chatham School of Rock Street Team also was on hand to perform. There was also plenty of food and a silent auction. The event's proceeds will go towards the second phase of the school district's Communication Arts Program, which provides technology equipment and programs to all seven of Millburn's schools.

The Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills wants to remind locals that Millburn schools rock. The foundation's annual Millburn Schools Rock fund-raiser is scheduled for Friday, March 19 at 7-11 p.m. at the Maplewood Country Club. The event features the B Street Band, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band that recently played at New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's inaugural party. In addition to the "Boss," there will be food, silent auctions, raffles and instant prizes. Last year's event drew nearly 350 people. U2 tribute band to highlight education foundation fund-raiser
Most parents will tell you Millburn schools rock, and the Education Foundation of Millburn-Short Hills hopes to prove it in March. Unforgettable Fire, a U2 tribute band, will headline the foundation's annual benefit on March 27 at the Maplewood Country Club. "I saw them at a friend's 40th birthday party," said Amy Talbert, event organizer. "They look and sound just like them. Not a lot of people get to go to rock concerts."
