Michael Bollinger is leaving his position as executive director of South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC), effective immediately. His sudden departure, a decision he said was mutual, comes two years after Bollinger was appointed to the position. Bollinger’s interim replacement is SOPAC director of development Linda Onorevole. "The board has decided it was time for a change," SOPAC Director of Marketing and Communications Scott Sullivan told Patch. In this year's New Jersey Monthly Magazine's list of top public high schools, Millburn fell from its place at number one, for the first time since 2008, to number eight. The owner of a local storage business who dressed a monkey statue in an anti-Obama T-shirt said Wednesday the statement was not racially motivated. “It was not meant to be racial," business owner Rick Bond told Patch. Bond, a former councilman and police officer, placed the statue in front of his Cedar Grove business, Don-Ric Self Storage at 405 Little Falls Road but removed it Tuesday afternoon after people started complaining. “I absolutely never thought of it as racial,” Bond said. “It’s ridiculous.” The monkey statue sported a T-shirt saying “OMG Obama Must Go.” A 7-year-old girl is dead after being mowed down by a car on Central Avenue Monday evening in Newark, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed. Heller appeals rejected Bloomfield Center redevelopment plan.
New Jersey Developer Cary Heller has filed an appeal after his 2011 lawsuit against Bloomfield over the redevelopment of Bloomfield Center was rejected in May, Colgan said. The original lawsuit had stalled the township development for more than a year. The case now heads to the New Jersey Court of Appeals. Suspects in three different Newark murders were captured Tuesday, including two suspects in murders occurring within the last few weeks.
