Early registration discount? Interesting, I never would have thought of that. What a smart idea. That way you get all your regulars to show up with friends and get their ID cards. Smart marketing move there. I work with Coral Canyon Golf Course in Utah (http://www.golfmesquitenevada.com/coralcanyongc.html) and think I may need to follow this trend. Good marketing!   more ›

Pool, Golf Memberships Down, But Use Is Up

The number of people at the pool or playing rounds of golf each day has increased even though fewer people are members.

Pool and golf memberships are down this year, but both members are using both more than they did a year ago because of this summer's nice weather. At the pool, there are about 50 less family memberships than there were a year ago as of the end of June. There were slightly more than 5,600 members on June 30. Recreation Director Robert Hogan said more families do purchase a pool membership during July, but he expects memberships to be down slightly for the year. Boys Golf Off to Solid Start

Coach Robert Manley says he is pleased with the team's 3-0 record.

Robert Manley has been a busy man lately. He’s running for a seat on the Verona Township Council but he’s also in his 17th season leading the Millburn High School boys golf team. Thus far, the Millers are 3-0 and have 21 more matches left on the season. Despite the loss of senior captain Robert Vaters, who suffered a knee injury in gym class that will keep him out for the season, Manley has been pleased with the progress of this team. “We are much leaner this year with only 12 players, but much deeper and solid throughout,” he said. The linchpins for the team are two seniors, David Gelband and Dan Griffith. Others who have stepped up their play include seniors Glen Boden and Jared Siegal; juniors Patrick Maguire and Keiichi Myoshita and …
