Steeplechase Celebrates Passage of Recalcitrant Cancer Law

  Rep. Leonard Lance, R-7, and members of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network joined together at the Steeplechase Cancer Center Wednesday to celebrate the passing of a new law to help develop better treatments and possible cures for the deadliest cancers. Lance was one of the main sponsors of the Recalcitrant Cancer Research Act, along with California Representative Anna Eshoo, which was signed into law by President Barack Obama Jan. 2. Julie Fleshman, president and CEO of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, said the bill received 295 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives and 59 in the Senate. Republican Leonard Lance Wins 7th Congressional District

Incumbent Lance defeated Democratic challenger Upendra Chivukula.

Republican Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) will be heading back to Washington to begin his third term after defeating Democratic challenger Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula. Lance won 58 percent of the vote, with Chivukula capturing just 39 percent. Many believed the race was Lance's to lose, as the 7th Congressional district spans a largely Republican territory that includes Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties as well as parts of Morris.  Throughout his campaign, Lance stressed the need for reform to President Barack Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Lance Locks Up 7th Congressional District Republican Primary

Unofficial totals have Lance at 60% of the vote and challenger David Larsen at 40%.

The Republican primary for the 7th U.S. Congressional district in New Jersey was not expected to be close. Expectations are bearing out so far tonight. With 99% of the total vote reported, incumbent Leonard Lance, of Clinton Township in Hunterdon County, is leading challenger David Larsen with 60% of the vote compared to 40%, reports news12.com. With 373 of 638 precincts reporting (or 58% of the vote), the AP declared Lance the winner. Lance had these remarks in his acceptance speech: "I thank all of those who have made tonight's strong victory possible. Most especially, I thank my wife, Heidi, for her love and support. Lance Kicks Off Re-election Campaign in Summit

Republicans out to support the Congressman in front of Summit City Hall; Lance now also represents MIllburn.

Congressman Leonard Lance kicked off his re-election campaign for New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District yesterday in front of Summit City Hall. It was his forth stop on his first day of heavy campaigning. Political leaders from Summit joined other Republican politicians from Westfield and Kenilworth who came out to support Lance. Mayor Ellen Dickson was on hand as well as Senator Tom Kean, the chairman of the Lance for Congress campaign, Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz and Assemblyman Jon Bramnick, both campaign co-chairs. “I am proud to endorse Leonard Lance for Congress," said Kean.  "As our Congressman, Leonard Lance is leading the fight for lower taxes, less spending and more accountability in the federal budget process," he said. …
