Essex County malls busy, but not overcrowded most of the day.
Essex County's two malls—Short Hills and Livingston—had a steady stream of shoppers throughout Black Friday. However, staggered store openings helped to keep the lines to a minimum Friday morning in Short Hills. By the early afternoon, Livingston was busy, but not overcrowded.
As part of their annual holiday concert series, the Chatham Community Band brings cheer to shoppers.
Some musical cheer will accompany holiday shoppers at the Livingston Mall on Tuesday, Dec. 6, when the Chatham Community Band gives one of several free area concerts to celebrate the season. The 60-member ensemble, which features brass, woodwinds and percussion, will be outside the upper level of Macy’s beginning at 7:30 p.m. On the playlist are “A Most Wonderful Christmas,” “A Chanukah Celebration,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and the “Hallelujah Chorus.” A non-profit organization, the band was established in 1984 and is comprised of members ranging in age from 17-90.
