Garden State Upbringing Inspired Dana Calvo's 'Made in Jersey'
The former Moorestonian and Moorestown Friends School alum said it's "surreal" to be helming her own TV show.
Dana Calvo is protective of her native state. Even though she lives in L.A. now, and hasn’t made the Garden State her home for a number of years, she reserves a deep pride for New Jersey. “People have these stupid, old, outdated, tired jokes about New Jersey,” said Calvo. “That wasn’t my experience at all.” Hence the reason Calvo drew from her experiences growing up in the Garden State while writing Made in Jersey, a new CBS series about a Jersey girl who “busts out” of her working blue-collar neighborhood and becomes a big-time New York City attorney.
