Millburn police arrested Starlett Davis, 27, of Brooklyn, on fraud charges at The mall at Short Hills Saturday.
Police arrested a 27-year-old Brooklyn woman Saturday after she allegedly attempted to purchase a designer purse with a fraudulent credit card in The mall at Short Hills, Millburn police said. According to Capt. Michael Palardy, Starlett Davis was arrested on May 11 on fraud charges at about 2 p.m. Davis attempted to buy a Yves Saint Laurent Bo Sac De Jour purse, valued at $3,156.50, from Nordstrom with a Bank of America card containing a different name, police said. Davis showed the assistant manager a Florida driver's license with Davis's photo but with a different name and information matching the credit card, police said. Millburn police say Bernadette Griffin, 45, of Newark, allegedly stole items, totaling about $8,500, from three stores in Mall at Short Hills Saturday evening.
A 45-year-old woman was arrested early Saturday evening after allegedly attempting to shoplift about $8,500 in merchandise from three stores in the Mall at Short Hills, Millburn police said. Bernadette Griffin of Newark was arrested shortly after 7 p.m. for alleged shoplifting incidents at Nordstrom and two previous incidents at Macy's and Bloomingdales, officials said. According to police, a Nordstrom associate watched Griffin allegedly attempt to conceal a Furla Bag in a Macy's bag. The associate reported the incident and the store's security watched Griffin attempt to conceal multiple items throughout the store in her Macy's bags, the report said. Joseph Collins, 21, of Clark, and Robert Collins, 29, of Kenilworth, were arrested by Kenilworth police for parking deck incident at the Mall at Short Hills, police say.
Two brothers, who allegedly robbed a 24-year-old man in the parking deck of the mall at Short Hills Saturday, were arrested by Kenilworth police, Millburn police reported. According to police, the 24-year-old man was threatened with a knife by 21-year-old Joseph Collins in the Nordstorm's parking deck at 3:07 p.m. on Feb. 23. A description of Collins and the vehicle from the man robbed led to an investigation by Millburn and police in surrounding towns, police said. A car matching the description was stopped by Kenilworth police and Joseph Collins of Clark and his 29-year-old brother, Robert of Kenilworth were arrested. Plus La Maison du Chocolat is open at the mall.
The cafe at the corner of Willow Street and Main Street has closed its doors, and a "for lease" hangs in the window. Enchante was located on the opposite corner of Shop Rite of Millburn. The cafe served salads, panninis, imported cheeses and coffees. Also, La Maison du Chocolat has opened a seasonal boutique at the Mall at Short Hills. The 400-square-foot boutique will carry La Maison du Chocolat's classic collection of ganache and pralines, truffles, macaroons and bouchees. Hot chocolate also will be available as a carry out. Borders recently announced it too would have a seasonal shop at he Mall at Short Hills.
