Zina Rendel, 54, of Marlboro, and Chris Yuen, 27, of Highland Park, were arrested in two separate shoplifting incidents Monday in The Mall at Short Hills.
A man and woman were arrested in two separate shoplifting incidents Monday at The mall at Short Hills , Millburn police said Wednesday. Chris Yuen, 27, of Highland Park, was arrested for attempting to steal two Burberry shirts from Saks Fifth Avenue around 12:20 p.m., police said. Yuen took two shirts off a display rack and put them in his shopping bag, police said. He then tried to leave the store without paying when security stopped him. Yuen with shoplifting and was released with a mandatory court date. At 3:55 p.m., Nordstrom’s store security caught Zina Rendel, 54, of Marlboro, attempting to steal a gold bracelet valued at $195, police sad. Police warn residents to lock their cars after burglary spree on Presidents' Day weekend.
Ten unlocked cars were targeted in a string off burglaries Sunday night into Monday morning in Millburn and Short Hills, police said. Officials reported the following items were stolen from the cars: In addition, six Short Hills residents reported burglaries on Monday. According to the report, nothing was missing from the cars. However, officials reported, the cars and glove boxes were ransacked. Police said two of the burglaries occurred at residences on Farley Road, while other incidents happened at homes on Whitney Road, Alan Drive, Delbarton Drive and Essex Street.

Patch sits down with the recently sworn in 26-year-old police officer.
The Millburn Police Dept. has hired and sworn in a new officer, David Pinero, 26, at the end of September. Patch sat down with the 26-year-old officer this past week. The Patch: Why did you become a police officer? Pinero: Let's start from the beginning. I'm originally from Paterson and joined the Marines right after that in 2004. I originally wanted to become a cop but after the events of Sept. 11 my priorities changed, so I went into the Marines. Pinero served in the Marines from 2004 to 2008 where he did two six-month tours in Iraq. Pinero ended his enlistment as a sergeant. The Patch: What made you pick Millburn? Police arrest a suspect in two recent thefts in the park, and also make a drug and weapons arrest.
Millburn Police arrested a suspect in two thefts that occurred in Taylor Park on March 17 and March 18. In the first, a man reported to the police that his black North Face backpack – containing a wallet, cell phone and other valuables – was stolen while he was playing basketball. In the second incident on March 18, a 15-year-old boy reported that a black male had stolen his I-phone from him. On March 20, the Union Police Department arrested Naquan Fairley on a warrant after he was observed walking out of a Union pawn shop, counting money. After questioning the shop owner, police learned that Fairley had just sold an I-Phone matching the description of the one stolen from the teenager in Taylor Park on March 18. Police also found a …
