Forever 21 joins the Cheesecake Factory as the new offerings in 2011 at the Mall at Short Hills.
The Cheesecake Factory isn't the only new thing coming to the Mall at Short Hills in 2011. Forever 21 is due to open this year too. The Cheesecake Factory is due to open this summer, but an official opening date has yet to be set. Mall officials announced the opening of the restaurant earlier this month. But also coming in 2011 is Forever 21, a national chain that has an "unprecedented selection of clothing and accessories at value prices," according to a mall press release. It's due to open this summer in a 40,000-square-foot store. "New merchandise is brought in daily, creating an exciting mix of dresses, denim, shoes, intimates, outerwear and more," a mall press release states.

Also, Style'N Canine is coming to Short Hills.
Carol's Collection is back open in downtown Millburn in the space that was once occupied by Netef Gallery. Netef Gallery closed at the end of 2010, and Carol's Collection opened within the last week on Main Street. The store features "designer costume jewelry and handbags," but there are other accessories, like scarves, available for purchase. A dog groomer also is coming to Short Hills. Style'N Canine received approval from the zoning board of adjustment earlier this month to open shop at 36 Chatham Road, which is across the street from the Short Hills train station. Grooming will be by appointment only, according to the information provided to the zoning board, and there will be a retail section of the 825-square-foot shop.

A look back at some of the stores that opened and closed in Millburn-Short Hills in 2010.
The economy has been tough for many businesses, which has forced them to shut their doors or move. But it hasn't meant stores have stayed empty. Many new stores also opened in Millburn-Short Hills in 2010 too. From bakeries to gift stores, they offered a variety of services and new wares for shoppers. Some also offered debate, like if there are too many Italian restaurants in town. The Rise of the Downtown Bakery The year started with one bakery in downtown Millburn—Bella's Bakery. The shop, which opened in 2009, caters to families with nut allergies offering treats without then. But now at the end of 2010 there are two more bakeries joining Bella's. Splurge Bakery opened on Main Street this fall, taking over the space that was once the …

After two and a half years, Netef Gallery will close by the end of the month.
Guy Netef is looking forward to moving to Israel with his family next summer. For Netef, his wife and three school-aged children, the move will be a return to the homeland they left 10 years ago when they moved to Millburn. It will also mean closing the doors to Netef Gallery, the quaint jewelry boutique they opened two years ago on Main Street. "We have great customers here, made a lot of friends in town and it was a wonderful experience all together," said Netef, as he continued to assist customers. In 2002, the Netefs started a wholesale jewelry business featuring the work of Israeli designers, expanding to a storefront six years later. Netef has befriended many of his loyal clients. And so, while excited for the move, it is not …

Also, Gina's Bakery accepting job applications.
If you're walking down Main Street south of Millburn Avenue, you're sure to see the splash of pink. The outside of Splurge Bakery is shaping up with its pink exterior, but the store isn't due to open until the end of the month or in early November. The bakery, which will be located at 105 Main St., specializes in personalized cookies. Owned by Short Hills resident Julie Winer, she creates sugar cookies with an image or message cast in icing. Meanwhile, it remains unclear when Gina's Bakery will open on Millburn Avenue, but help wanted signs now hang in the window of the store's future location. Those interested in working at the downtown bakery can send an email to justinef04@gmail.com. The Montclair-based bakery has a stand at the farmers…
