Readers Pick a Host of Places for St. Patrick's Day Revelry

Pubs and restaurants throughout the county are a great place to spend St. Patrick's Day, according to this week's Reader's Choice poll.

Patch readers know where to get great corned beef, a cold ale or simply a friendly atmosphere to hang out with friends while they celebrate St. Patrick's Day. After a week-long poll, readers in Essex County chose several fun local places where they plan to enjoy the holiday. One of the favorite places was Tierney's Tavern in Montclair—a no frills, cash-only establishment that plans to sell 250 pounds of corned beef on Saturday and feature an Irish band starting at 4 p.m. A little less than 15 minutes away is the Cloverleaf Tavern in Caldwell, a family-friendly pub on Bloomfield Avenue that opened in 1933 and is known for its wide selection of beers. Essex Readers Say "Mangia" at a Host of Delicious Restaurants

Over a thousand votes show that readers like to eat Italian food from North Newark to downtown Millburn.

From intimate bistros to elegant dining rooms and homey pubs, Essex County has got some delicious places to eat. As Patch readers weighed in on some of their favorite Italian restaurants this week during the first-ever Best Of poll, they highlighted popular eateries as well as hidden gems. Montclair readers said they loved the cozy atmosphere and delectable food at Osteria Giotto in Midland Avenue. Me and my wife started visiting Angelos pizzeria/restaurant in bloomfield a few years ago. this dining experience is to die for.
